The ultimate aim for many people on the Innovator Founder Visa is to achieve ILR.
When we run our Zoom sessions, the most popular are always those related to the ILR requirements and how to achieve them. But nearly everyone is missing the point. In the same way that Rachel Elnaugh said “make people happy and the money will follow”, if you build your successful business, then given the requirements, ILR should follow. Therefore, your focus should be on building your business.
Why do people attend sessions on ILR but then miss the sessions on marketing, sales, intellectual property, recruiting and all of the other things that make your business work? The main reason is that they are overly focused on the output targets. But if you build a successful business, the output targets will happen automatically.
You can't have a successful business without revenue and profit. The more your business builds, the more people you need to employ. This also brings a need to research, develop and protect ideas. When you have a business that survives, has people, and has intellectual property, you have all of the requirements for ILR - without having to take extra time to aim for any of them.
Too many people focus on injecting £50,000 into their business and looking for something to protect without thinking about the bigger picture. Focus on building your business and all of this comes naturally – it's not forced.
So what's my point? The lifeblood of any business is sales. This Wednesday we are running a fantastic session with international sales organisation Sales Geek, talking about some of the basics of selling, and how Sales Geek can help with your international growth (remember that £500k sales + £100k export target?)
Come along on Wednesday at 10am – it's free – to hear about the basics from Sales Geek and how you can work together to build your business. We’ll be announcing some pretty exciting stuff in the coming weeks!
