You're opening an incredible, expensive bottle of wine with friends, but it needs 30 minutes to breathe. You don't have time. Your friends take a sip and assume it's cheap. "There's nothing sadder than opening a great bottle, knowing it needs time, but having to drink it fast," says Jesse Huang, reflecting on the moment that sparked everything.
That frustrating evening led to Megadots Limited and their revolutionary Kairos Aerator – a device that reduces wine aeration from 30 minutes to just 30 seconds.
The Duo Behind the Brand
Jesse and Jonah were classmates who became close friends after being introduced by a mutual friend. Living nearby in the UK, they bonded over gym sessions, art galleries, and their shared love of sports – particularly golf and tennis. Both natural introverts, they admit the busy schedule of wine festivals and events takes energy, but "it feels like we are just meeting up with friends."

The Science and the Business
The innovation came during their studies in London. Jonah's family background in technology provided the breakthrough. "He thought about electromagnetic wave technology," Jesse explains. "It's normally used in space and 5G communication, but it gets absorbed by oxygen molecules. That's usually a problem – but for wine aeration, it's perfect."
After five years of development, they'd created the world's first contactless wine aerator. Sleek, modern, and incredibly effective.
As international students, Jesse and Jonah faced a catch-22: they had a brilliant business idea and established company, but couldn't trade until they had the right visa. "We were spending money but couldn't do business because we were waiting for the visa – but the purpose of the visa was to do business!"
Innovator International provided the solution. "They're tech-savvy, and we're in electronics from Taiwan with strong semiconductor connections – it matched quite well," Jesse says. "It's like having friends you can ask questions. Different stages bring different difficulties, and you can ask the right person right away."
A Different Measure of Success
Despite being endorsed only in August 2024, Megadots has sold 300 units in less than a year, building a customer base across restaurants, wine bars, and enthusiasts. "99% of people love our product and notice the difference right away."
Building trust requires real-life demonstrations. "Products like these can be hard to market online. It's all in the taste," Jesse admits. Once people see the technology in action, they're sold.
Asked about success metrics, Jesse's claims "Our product gave somebody goosebumps once. I ended up giving away product number 002 as a gift because the person was so overwhelmed. Their reaction brought tears to their eyes. To us, that will always stick in our minds."
What Makes the Kairos Aerator Special
The Kairos Aerator offers flexibility. "Traditionally, you pour a whole bottle into a decanter and wait hours. Once you've poured it, you can't go back. With our aerator, you can test it glass by glass."
One local wine store owner with 5,000 wines uses the Kairos when visiting wineries to quickly test wines without committing to whole bottles. Jesse fondly remembers giving a free sample to a Metro Bank manager at Christmas. "Last week, I saw him posting on Instagram about dinner with friends, and there was our Kairos in the photo. People really love the product because it genuinely improves their lives."
Looking Ahead
With UK success secured, Jesse and Jonah are eyeing expansion to Italy and the US this year. The portable design opens doors beyond wine – travel, fashion, and sports car industries are all possibilities.
"We're not just selling a product," Jesse reflects. "We're making small steps to change the whole industry and make lives better. People become believers because they see this is the future of wine."
When asked what he'd tell others considering the Innovator Founder visa, Jesse doesn't hesitate: "I actually help Chinese friends with their business plans and tell them they must go with Innovator International."
From that disappointing evening with under-aerated wine to over 300 happy customers, Jesse and Jonah have proven that with the right idea, determination, and support, student entrepreneurs can build something extraordinary.
