Building a business is rarely something you do entirely on your own, even if it feels that way in the beginning.

Our next open webinar is on Wednesday 15th July, and we're tackling a question nearly every founder eventually has to answer: what can you actually do yourself, and where do you need other people? It sounds simple, but the decisions that sit underneath it shape almost everything about how your business takes form in the UK.

We'll start with the practical limits of doing it all yourself. In the early stages it's tempting, and often necessary, to wear every hat, but there's a difference between what's realistic for a founder to handle personally and what assessors expect to see you doing versus what can sensibly be handed to someone else. We'll talk through the two mistakes we see most often: founders who try to do too much themselves for too long, and founders who delegate too early without a clear structure behind it.

From there we'll get into one of the biggest decisions founders face as they grow: do you employ someone, or bring in a subcontractor or freelancer? We'll cover the practical and immigration-relevant differences between the two, when each makes sense depending on your stage of growth, and what this looks like from a compliance and evidencing perspective, including payroll, contracts, IR35 considerations, and what genuine job creation actually needs to demonstrate.

We'll also look at where partnerships fit in. Strategic partnerships and operational outsourcing aren't the same thing, and knowing the difference matters. We'll go through common partnership structures founders use, whether that's suppliers, agencies, co-founders, or advisors, and how these are viewed within the endorsement process, including where founders sometimes get this wrong.

By the end, we'll bring it all together with a simple framework for deciding what to keep in-house, what to subcontract, and where to seek a partner, along with some real-world examples from within the Innovator community.

These are decisions that affect more than just your day-to-day operations. They speak to how you're building a genuine, sustainable business here in the UK, and they're often the kind of thing founders only think carefully about once they're already stuck.

As always, this session is fully interactive. Bring your questions and we'll answer them live, either through the chat box or by coming on camera to ask us directly. Whether you're still mapping out your team structure or you're already hiring and want a second opinion, this is a good one to join.

Spots are limited, so if you'd like to join us next Wednesday on 15th July, register via the link below. We look forward to seeing you there!
